KICK supports kinetic research across diverse fields, including chemical technology, green chemistry and technology, biotechnology, (in)organic chemistry, industrial catalysts, pharmaceutical engineering, material engineering, ....

All KICK setups are run by trained researchers, committed to perform experiments in the best possible conditions. In order to make use of the infrastructure, we invite you to contact the responsible professors or the CF manager, see below or on the contact page.

Workflow

In a first contact mail, please describe which research question(s) you would like to answer. Essential information to be given comprises:

  • nature and number of samples
  • type of reaction and required conditions (T, p, flows)
  • sought information type (GC data, MS data, ...)
  • first choice of setup to acquire this information
  • deliverable: raw data, pre-processed data, data + analysis report
  • preferred time frame

Based on the delivered information, the CF manager will discuss your request with the setup responsible and the instrument supervisor. If needed, further experimental detail may be requested.

Once the experimental work is detailed, a measuring agreement or contract will be drafted and signed between the client and the core facility. The latter will contain a concise description of the planned experiments, an estimate of the time requirement, a quotation for the service and an indication of possible scheduling (tentative). Depending on the client's origin (academic, non-academic, industrial, ...) and the nature of the experimental content, a pre-payment and/or co-authorship for a publication can be requested (operator + supervisor) and/or an NDA can be signed.

Remark that no guarantee on the timing can be given as this depends on the occupancy of the instrument, operator availability, priorities, possible downtimes, ....

Output

After conclusion of the experimental campaign, an invoice will be posted to the client, requesting payment for the delivered services. The client will receive the requested output, i.e. the resulting data and a short report on how the experiments were executed will be provided to the client. In case a more elaborate analysis of the experimental data was requested by the client, it will be added to the report.
